DIY: Plastic animals on mason jars! Recycling is fun!

What to do with empty jam jars (mason jars) ? Paint the lids and glue a plastic animals on top!

DIY: Cakestand!

I've had this idea since forever.. handmade cakestands are everywhere on Pinterest and craft blogs!
It also makes a great and fairly cheap birthday present. You can easily make one for about €4 and you can customize it in any way you want!

DIY: Hogwarts acceptance letter

Were you one of those kids who had been waiting impatiently for her(/his) 11th birthday?
And did you then find out there was no snowy owl flying your way with a Hogwarts Acceptance Letter written by the hand of Minerva McGonagall especially for you? And then not even a surprise visit from Hagrid to apologize that your letter never arrived?
I would be devastated, too.

Oh how I love I heard about it for the first time a few months ago in one of Kandee Johnson's videos.
She was wearing a very cute t-shirt from in her video and I instantly went and checked it out!

DIY great gift-idea : Personal Quote Eyechart

It's my granddad's birthday this monday the 17th of June and I wanted to make something special for him but since my health is killing me and my back doesn't allow me to stand up or sit for longer than half an hour, I tried to find something I could do lying down.. not easy, believe me!

But yesterday I found the perfect DIY; A Do-it-yourself eyetest with a personal quote instead of just letters. It's not hard at all and it only takes up about 10-20 minutes.

Summer trend: all things neon!

Neon is the way to go this summer.
Shops are bulking with neon-colored clothes and accessories, but not only your wardrobe should be neon-touched.. even your furniture and home-decoration look a lot better with a hint of fluorescence!

Belated birthday gift and my new art wall !

Hey there! Have you noticed my new lay-out? I customized my website a little and added two tabs (pages), added Social Media-widgets and I created a logo I can finish my posts with! What do you think?

Now what I wanted to write about was that yesterday... I received another birthdaygift! A little late, but apparently there was a problem with the shipment. This present is the one I got from my sister, Barbara and her boyfriend, Jens.

Ecosi - Eco jewellery by Julie Wyckmans

A few days ago I came across an Instagram-picture that a friend of mine posted. The picture showed a hand with four really special rings on each (thumb not included) finger.
Then I realized what was so special about these rings, they are made of Nespresso capsules!
This is such a great idea. Recycling at its best!
And the colors of these coffee-capsules are really pretty and very suitable for your brightest and most cheerful summer ensemble.

Oh my god!
These campaign-pictures of Doutzen Kroes for H&M are simply gorgeous!!!
I can't wait to go to H&M now.

I told you this cute Dutch supermodel was one of my favourite celebs/people ever.

Take a look at some pictures here:

Edgy: Earcuffs

I spotted it online a few times - and on Pinterest; but it's still a new kid on the block: Earcuffs.
They are edgy, special and pretty. I am a huge fan. Plus: no piercing needed!

New hair - slight ombré!

"What is it called - ombre or ombré ?" is what I was thinking all the time at the hairdresser.
I thought it was Ombre which means "Shadow" in french. Ombré means "Shadowed".
Apparently, all the hairdressers say "Ombré" so .. "Ombré" it is.

Pure Farah - Wordpress

Yesterday, I met this really really nice girl called Farah who happened to be a blogger too.
She is super-interesting so visiting her blog is totally worth your time!

Kate Upton make-up tutorial

A curvy supermodel, what a dream!

Kate Upton is one of the very few topmodels/rolemodels who has a little roundness and I love it.
She makes me totally re-appreciate my ball-round face :D

She always has pretty make-up and I thought it would be a great idea to do a make-up tutorial on her signature cat-eye look, with rosy pink cheeks.

Do it yourself: 3D printing leather (Vlieger & Vandam knockoff)

I did it!

You all know I fell in love with the Vlieger & Vandam 3D-printed (embossed) leather purses and I recently ordered one for my birthday.

I found a DIY on the internet (click here) from a Danish girl who made a purse based on the Vlieger & Vandam handbags. She did it with scissors and other tools and it looked really cool so I decided to try it.

But how cool and lovely does this pink dip-dye look?

Recipe for an awesome smoothie

So here's my first recipe!

I got a book about smoothies, juices and shakes for my birthday and I really wanted to try it
but haven't had the time to make one yet.
But since I started feeling a little ill this afternoon, I thought it was a great idea to make a smoothie
to give me a little bit of an energy boost!

I was reading through the book and noticed that almost every recipe has at least one ingredient that
I didn't have at home and there was no time left to go to the store so I decided to just
try to make one myself with the fruits I do have. And it turned out to be delicious!

My picks: American Apparel

I must admit, it wasn't love at first sight.

I used to not like American Apparel at all because it was a little too boring for me 4-5 years ago when I visited the U.S. quite often. However, now I've visited the store in Antwerp for the first time (I've walked past it a million times and never went in, shame on me) and that store is -apparently- super awesome!

(De) Block Party

Here's just a few pictures of my birthday party.
I thought not everyone might like it as much to be out in the open on the internet but I knew some people didn't mind so I'll share those pictures!

The most awesome birthday gifts - I've been spoiled

So as you know (because I wouldn't let anyone forget) I turned 20 this saturday, and I had two parties going on this weekend. One for my family, which was merely about eating cake and drinking champagne/coffee and the other one for my close friends.

Throughout the day I received plenty of awesome gifts. I was urging to write about them yesterday and today but I still had a lot of other things I had to do first so I only got to it now.

I would like to thank all of my family and friends for making my birthday thàt magnificent this year.

The best birthday-gift was of course the one I got from my outstandingly wonderful boyfriend.
We agreed on a ring for my birthday because it's that one thing you can always wear, no matter what outfit you're wearing.
It's that little something special that reminds you of your love every time you look at your finger.
You symbolically carry your love with you very closely, everywhere you go.

We got it at Robb.Zilla, which is a little jewelleryshop in the center of Antwerp.
The designer of this jewellery is a really nice guy and he makes extraordinary designs for an affordable price. You can check out the shops website here.

The address of this jewellery shop is:
Kammenstraat 53
2000 Antwerp

My ring looks like this:

We're inseperable already

Vlieger & Vandam gun pouch - Guardian Angel

Happy birthday to me!

Yesterday was my birthday and it was AWESOME. I'll do a blogpost about my party and gifts later today or tomorrow.

But I couldn't keep this one from you: I ordered a purse. And not just A purse. A Vlieger & Vandam gun pouch called "Guardian Angel".

It's been on my wishlist for quite some time now since I saw it on a friend of mine. It was a coup de foudre (Love at first sight).

So I've been waiting to get this until I had enough birthday-money. So yesterday was the perfect day to place the order. But I was strong and slept on it for a night. Today I was absolutely 10000% sure I wanted this one so I ordered it.

I'm so so so excited!

So this is what it looks like:

I'll post a blog when it arrives!

What do you think? Would you wear this one?

Around the globe

There's a lot of places in the world I've visited and lost my heart to.
I wanted to make a list of these countries or places and tell you why I love them so much.

First of all, I am truly a lucky person to have parents who travel a lot, that's the reason why I already had the chance to visit quite a lot of countries in my still very young life (I'm turning 20 tomorrow!!)

1. New York City

The first place I am genuinely in love with is of course New York City
I already wanted to live there when I was about 8 or 9 years old and hadn't even visited the big apple yet. Everything in the world seems to be - how should I put this - tracing back to New York. I mean, that it is - to me - the center of the world, the place where everything happens.

Anno 2013, I already have about 9 "Welcome to New York"-stamps in my passport.
I don't really remember the first time I visited the city, I was only 10 years old, but I remember the feeling of being totally overwhelmed by the rare beauty of this concrete jungle.
In the meantime I've been growing up while visiting New York almost every year, but the feeling I get when I'm there, has never changed.

I get this feeling of being SO anonymous and free, you can do whatever you like and no one will care or be judged about it; whether that's wearing a prom dress with combat boots or walking a donkey in the middle street. And I like it that way.

In the shops every employee says "Hi, how are you" and "Have a good day!" and whether they mean it or not, that doesn't really matter, it leaves you with a nice feeling. In Belgium people are more rigid and reserved, which makes communicating with strangers far more difficult (and awkward).

In the meantime, I let go of my dream of living in NYC because I realized that I need space and nature around me; and as much as I love central park, it's just not enough.

I love just hanging out by myself, blending in with the crowd. That way you can view the city like a native New Yorker (I love that song).

One of the main reasons I love New York: they have SoHo. SoHo is just such an artsy, lovable neighbourhood that makes you forget you're in the center of the Manhattan-madness.

So, I'll leave it at that for New York, cause I could go on and on, and on, and on.. :) :) :) :)

Times Square - New York

Wednesday, May 15, 2013 - iPhone cases & more artsy stuff

I've known about Society6 for about a year now.
I already have two of their iPhone cases but I still go to their website regularly and drool over their prints.

Society6 has hundreds and hundreds of fancy, funny, pretty and awesome iPhone cases. They can also print the designs on t-shirts, hoodies, canvas, throw pillows, tote bags, laptop and iPad skins, iPhone and iPod skins, iPad cases, stationery cards, art prints and framed art prints.

The iPhone cases I have from their website, were both presents for my 19th birthday which was almost exactly one year ago (my birthday is coming up, this saturday the 18th of may! --> see this post
The cases below are the ones I have.

The first one is baby green and it shows two birds on a branch who are "tweeting", like through twitter. "Sparr0w82: on a branch with @Bluebird"

I am in love with... Kandee Johnson!

Sorry, boyfriend, but I'm in love with a girl.
And her name is Kandee Johnson.

WARNING: Do NOT miss out on this one.

Have you ever heard of her?

Kandee Johnson is a gorgeous, extraordinary and incredibly funny American YouTube-star (or should I say: phenomenon?) and probably the most cheerful and happy person I've ever seen.

Her name is Kandee for a reason, she is total eye-, ear-, and other-senses-candy!

Antwerp's very own Frozen Yogurt

FINALLY Antwerp has its own Frozen Yogurt place!

I've been loving froyo since I first had one in South-Africa more or less six years ago.
It was love at first ... uhhh... taste.

For those among you who haven't had the pleasure to have a froyo yet, it's a (semi-)healthy
alternative for ice cream or any other take-away dessert.
It's made of frozen low-fat yogurt, so it's a low-calorie (0% fat =) =) =) ) treat.

This screenshot below shows a comparison between ice-cream (roomijs) and Natural Frozen Yogurt per 100 ml.
vet = fat
suiker = sugar
eiwitten = proteins
Screenshot from

At Moochie Antwerp ( ) you have the choice between three different flavors of yogurt as a base.I like the natural yogurt best.

Then you have 24 (wow) different toppings. There's all kinds of fruits like kiwis and bananas, there's oreo cookies, american cookies, muesli, m&m's, nuts, candy, etcetera etcetera..

Then on top of aalllllllllll of that, you can put a (free) sauce like nutella, honey, strawberry-sauce and a few more.

I had a small, natural froyo with oreo cookies and strawberries topped with just a little bit of chocolate sauce. And it was heavenly!

Where you can get it:

Eiermarkt, 9
2000 Antwerpen

Klein Turkije, 14
9000 Gent

(Come to Belgium if you live elsewhere!!)

English + Mad Tea Party - Lisa

So, first of all, I wanted to tell you that I'm going to write in English from now on.. I've noticed that
a couple of people from the US and India and other countries have clicked on my blog and
I thought it was a pity they couldn't read what they were (probably) looking for.

Hopefully, all belgian readers can still follow whatever I'm talking about!

Today I want to write about the Mad Tea Party a friend of mine threw today.. She is
writing a paper about Alice in Wonderland and wanted to throw an Alice in Wonderland themed party
herself and I thought it was a very awesome idea.

She wanted to combine this afternoon tea party with a closet sale, so all girls who were invited could
sell the clothes they don't wear anymore. This combo was just perfect.

Lisa, my friend who threw this party, lives in a kind of farmhouse more on the countryside. Lisa and her family have five horses and stables (If you have horses, you have to have stables, obviously ;) ). The whole farmlike estate looks very cool.

In their garden they have a chalet which they installed completely so it is very livable and looks über-cute. The tea party and closet sale took place in this enchanting chalet.

I took a lot of pictures so I'm going to show you what the tea party looked like!

Lisa and her sisters (Annakin and Isabeau) made a LOT of cupcakes, whoopies and other sweet treats.
The tea I had today was Strawberry Cupcake tea and tastes supersweet and was really utterly delicious.

First we all had a cup (or two/three) of tea and afterwards it was time to start drinking some cocktails and checking out each other's clothes !

The chalet

Hope you enjoyed this!

PS: Thank you Lisa for your awesome party and all your awesomeness and for the inspiration for this blogpost!
