Now what I wanted to write about was that yesterday... I received another birthdaygift! A little late, but apparently there was a problem with the shipment. This present is the one I got from my sister, Barbara and her boyfriend, Jens.
"lullaby of birdland" by my dad Middle: one of my paintings Right: gift from B&J from
Tiger by Evi Leys Etsy.com
They gave me two A4-sized pieces of artwork. It's actually two old book pages with a stencil/print on it. The prints are SO cute! One shows a cute bunny-rabbit in a teacup and the other one shows a hot-air-balloon with birds around it.
I am so happy with this artsy gift because, as you know, I love art.But since I make (or made, because I had to stop for a while) paintings myself, I always thought it would be kind of a waste of money for me to buy anyone else's paintings because I could just as well make them myself. Not because I don't want to support other artists, I would! But it usually costs a lot of money and since I am a poor poor student (haha), art isn't what you would best spend your money on at this age!
I wanted to hang them immediately and decided on hanging two other pictures I had in my room for a long time already, along with these two new frames.
Now I have an artsy picture wall!
The one with the lions is one of my paintings.
One of the other pictures is a collage my dad made for me. I love love love it. One of my favorite songs of all times is "Lullaby of birdland" by Ella Fitzgerald and he named this work after that song.
The picture shows birds in long, grotesque, renaissance-like dresses. It's just beautiful.
The other one is one I got for my birthday a few years ago, from my talented friend, Evi Leys. She made this drawing of a tiger for me. I really really love it.
